Mission

To promote, facilitate, and perpetuate the philanthropic spirit amongst the UCSD student community.

Function

The UCSD Student Foundation teaches students the benefits of philanthropy and the importance of giving to the UC San Diego community, by educating and encouraging students to support the UCSD Student Foundation endowment through gifts and volunteer efforts, thus preparing students to continue contributing to UC San Diego as alumni.

There are several annual events hosted by the Student Foundation to achieve these goals including the UCSD Dance Marathon, UCSD Cares Week, and Splash for Scholarships. The Foundation also holds a quarterly BBQ on Library Walk to collect I Pledges, a $5 quarterly donation from your student account to our scholarship fund to demonstrate your commitment to helping the UCSD community and our fellow students by providing scholarships. The Student Foundation also manages the UCSD Senior Class Gift. Each year, the graduating class is challenged to donate to their Senior Class Gift fund, which awards scholarships to incoming freshmen to ensure their graduation and success at UCSD.

Structure

The UCSD Student Foundation is comprised 35 student Trustees serving on one of three open committees: the Development, Campus Relations, and Investments Committees. These three committees work to create events and new donations to our scholarships, create campus partners and advertise, as well as manage our $170,000 endowment. Our endowment is managed entirely by students with an advisor, and is excellent for Trustees, and UCSD students to gain real investment experience.
