Open Committees
Investments Committee
The UCSDSF Investments Committee is responsible for the management of the Student Foundation's endowment. Our objective is to increase endowment funds through long term strategies, focusing on continuity and valued growth. Committee members meet weekly to discuss and address current market situations, perform sector presentations, and make buy/sell decisions based on market conditions. The students in this committee perform all aspects of portfolio management from the determination of asset allocations to the selection of individual securities under the guidance of prominent financial analysts who are affiliated with the university and who consult and train the members of the committee. Through the effective management of current funds, the Investment Committee will provide the main source of growth for the endowment.
The endowment maintains 75% in equity holdings and 25% in fixed-income investments and cash equivalents. It currently holds 65% of its equity investments in U.S. stocks and ETFs, while the rest is invested in non-U.S. companies of developed and emerging markets.
The market value of all investments is approximately $165,000 (as of October 2009).
